Cunninghame North MSP Kenny Gibson has lamented the loss of the Brisbane Queen over the last two years.
The issue was debated at both a Viking Festival committee and a recent North Coast committee meeting.
MSP Kenny Gibson, said: "I crowned the last Brisbane Queen in 2007. It was the Scottish Parliament's historic first Parliamentary session of the new electorate, but I decided to go and do the Brisbane Queen crowning instead.
"It was a real success. It was really busy and there were representatives from Queensland and Norway present. I don't know why it has not been running the past two years. Perhaps it has been eclipsed by the Viking Festival. It is unfortunate as so many traditions continue with other villages having their gala queens in the local area so it is sad that this seems to have fallen by the wayside.
"I was quite taken aback that it has not come back. I hope it is something that will be revived."
