Police have warned the public to be wary after a number of locals have fallen foul of a bank scam involving personal phone calls.
Community constable Alan McPhail stated that phone calls regarding renewal of bank cards were being made to local homes and warned residents, particularly OAPs, not to give out any personal details.
PC McPhail said: "Unfortunately some people have given those details over the phone. There is not a single bank or building society in the country that would phone to ask your details over the phone such as account number and sort codes. It would appear that the elderly are being targeted. The whole thing is a bank scam and I would urge the public to be very careful."
