Battle to take over Kirktonhall

A West Kilbride councillor has called foul after a battle has broken out over the upkeep of Kirktonhall council building in the centre of West Kilbride.

Councillor Liz McLardy set up a committee early last year concentrating on the resurrection of the 17th century former local authority premises, and has managed to set up a feasibility study for the project, with a number of estimates having already been received.

However, the Independent Councillor was left unhappy after North Ayrshire Council recently advertised Kirktonhall for a community group to take over, despite her own group's close interaction with NAC and lodging an interest in the takeover.
