A campaign to bring Barrfields Pavilion theatre back to life has reached its first milestone - the setting up of a new users' group.

Representatives of Largs Players, the Operatic Society, Largs Youth Theatre and Variations choral group have formed an executive supported by the management of KA Leisure Trust who run Vikingar! and Barrfields.

Under chairman Ryan Moir the the new group will concentrate on trying to revive the fortunes of the 80 year old theatre which has been neglected over recent decades.

Already, a working party has been in to clean up the auditorium, technical areas and dressing room area with yet more work planned.

Last week the youth theatre presented 'Jason And The Argonauts', next week the Operatic Society will stage 'Kiss Me Kate', and in April Largs Players bring the classic Scottish comedy, 'The Steamie' to town for the first time in 20 years.

However, the users' group hope to bring professional shows, including TV and radio recordings, to Barrfields.

If you have a Twitter account you can follow the group's activities on Barrfields Theatre@BarrfieldsLargs
