Local SNP politician Kenneth Gibson has welcomed cable news channel CNN's decision to make Scotland their number one global tourist destination for 2013 CNN decided to put Scotland at the top of the list of�world travel destinations, after taking a number of factors into account including value for money, major events,�airline routes and accessibility as well as the range of�hotels and new hotel openings.
Mr Gibson commented: ''It is great news that one of the World's biggest news networks has�chosen Scotland as the number one tourist hot spot this year.
''VisitScotland must seize this opportunity to enhance their promotion of Scotland. I have no doubt too that VisitAyrshire will work to ensure we are included and I will contact CNN directly to encourage visitors to add Ayrshire to their Scottish itinerary."
