During Tinnitus Awareness Week (3-9 February 2014), charity Action on Hearing Loss Scotland is inviting Largs and Millport residents with tinnitus to share their views about support that they’ve used or would like to see provided.
Tinnitus is a condition which people experience as a sound – such as ringing, whistling or buzzing in their head or ears – which doesn’t come from an external source.
10% of the adult population have mild tinnitus all of the time and, as the condition is invisible, its impact on everyday lives is often underestimated. Tinnitus can affect people’s sleep, relationships, social life and mental health.
Director of Action on Hearing Loss Scotland, Delia Henry, says: “Tinnitus can be a very challenging condition for many people to deal with, so having access to life-changing support is crucial. During Tinnitus Awareness Week, we’d appreciate the views of people with the condition in Largs and Millport about the support they’ve received or the types of support they would like to see provided.” If you would like to share your views about tinnitus support, email the charity at scotland@hearingloss.org.uk For more information about tinnitus, visit www.actiononhearingloss.org.uk/tinnitus
