I would like to say that I absolutely agree with Mr Ron Cooper and your article to “Promote Largs as a top spot for Camper Van Owners”.

We have owned a motor home for some years and have travelled extensively around Europe (mainly Germany, France, Belgium, Luxembourg and The Netherlands). We have been using Aires, Camper stops and Motor Home stopovers for a number of years now and find that these meet our needs. We pay approx £5 - £10 per stay as Mr Cooper states and some have coin operated facilities e.g. electricity, fresh water, disposal of waste water. We usually arrive in the evening, have a meal or drink locally, buy fresh bread and groceries locally and leave early next morning, sometimes returning again that evening if it is an area we would like to explore further.

We have friends from Germany who have travelled to Scotland with Motorhomes and have been shocked that they have to pay £20-£40 pounds per night to stay in campsites where they often don’t require or use the faciities.

I would think this would boost tourism for such a beautiful area and positively encourage visitors from the UK and Europe.

I do hope that Mr John Hamilton explores this further.
