A cyclist has written to the 'News' saying that cyclists should be given more respect, and bring money to the local economy.
And Alvin Pratt stated that cyclists ride in groups as a safety measure.
Writing on the Largs News Facebook page, Alvin said: "I think all this dissing of the cyclist is bang out of order.
"The cyclist ride in a bunch for safety reason. It’s stop clown drivers driving too fast and too close to them. If the bunch is bunched up in twos it’s actually easier safer and quicker to over take the whole lot of them in one go rather and dangerously squeeze past a long train on them.
"Treat them as a 20mph slow moving van and wait and pass when it’s safe to do so.
"Furthermore bashing these cyclists is bad for the local economy. I have been in a bunch ride that stops most weeks in the Bagel Basket where they are welcomed with open arms and spend a good few hundred pounds between them every time they visit sometimes 2/3 times aweek in the fair weather so the cyclist are an asset that it be poor loss to the town you chase them away
