It has been heralded as a new era in local decision making.

Finding common issues among our communites was the aim of a new style of local government rolled out in Largs.

Bringing together community councils, and elected councillors from Largs, Fairlie, Millport, Skelmorlie and West Kilbride, the new style of local governemtn is meeting at the Clark Memorial Church Hall in Largs on Wednesday evening, 6pm.

The North Coast Locality Partnership Meeting discussed a range of issues during its first meeting in September including the West Kilbride Traffic management plan, improving bus coverage in Cumbrae to include the Lady Margaret Hospital, and improving cycle lanes throughout the district.

Councillor Alan Hill pointed out that the purpose of the new group was to come together and prioritise certain issues, although North Ayrshire Council was now suffering severe budget cuts, the group could help support important projects which they see fit.
