Skelmorlie Fire Brigade aim to prove that there "ain't no mountain high enough" by climbing the equivalent of Everest this Saturday at 10am.
Retired fireman Lloyd Baillie has organised the charity climb at Skelmorlie Fire Station to raise proceeds for Ardgowan Hospice, after his sister Christine McAnespie was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Scaling the heights, the local firemen are aiming to complete the brave 8848m ascent using ladders climbing up the fire brigade tower.
Lloyd explained: ""Our ambition is to climb the combined height of Mount Everest (8848 metres), whereby we will also be assisted by Largs Fire Station Crew and additional firefighters from Gourock Station. This will be fun held activity, with home-made baking, raffles, bottle stalls, bouncy castle, face-painting and activities to entertain the children. Everyone is welcome."
Sponsor sheets have been distributed around the town in the pub and local shops.

The event is expected to be completed by 6pm
