A total of £4200 was raised from Saturday's Everest challenge to Ardgowan Hospice - a total of £3000 from sponsors and £1200 was made from raffles, tea and other events. Lloyd Bailey, who organised the event, said he would like to thank Largs and Gourock crews who also came along to help, and everyone who showed up to support Ardgowan Hospice on Saturday.
Thanks also go to all the girls for making tea and selling the raffle tickets all day. It started off blowing a gale in morning but turned out lovely afternoon. Lloyd added that he is a retained firefighter, and not retired, as stated in some reports. The 44 year old said: "I am a retained firefighter rather than retired, not ready to retire yet!"
