It was a case of hair today, gone tomorrow, for a Kelburn Primary pupil who lives in Skelmorlie.
Riona McRory had a massive 17 inches cut off her hair on Saturday morning for the Little Princess Trust, which make wigs for children going through chemotherapy, and have lost their own hair.
The eight year old of Paddock Dyke has raised £581.00 in donations for the good cause so far.
Delighted mother Jane said: "We are obviously very proud of what she has done. The person who cut her hair was a family friend Sarah Clark, who was a former hairdresser. The Little Princess Trust is a great charity and Riona had been wanting to do it for a long time, but we kept holding off, as once it is cut, it is cut!
"It was quite a talking point at Kelburn Primary when Riona arrived on Monday morning as you can imagine, and when she went to Skelmorlie Cubs on Monday evening, we received another donation for the charity.
"It is amazing the support we have had - it is incredible - and we would like to thank everyone who has donated."
Brother Fraser and dad Ewan are both very proud of Riona's achievement too.
The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs free of charge to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland that have sadly lost their own hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses.
Since its inception in 2006, the charity has now helped thousands of boys and girls. They work with suppliers throughout the UK and Ireland, all of whom supply beautiful, real hair wigs.
