Christmas came early for Skelmorlie

The Christmas dreams have come true for a number of houses in a Skelmorlie street as they celebrated a £30,000 win in the Postcode Lottery this week.

Four residents in The Lane, Skelmorlie, are celebrating having pulled a real cracker of a Christmas gift- £30,000 shared between People's Postcode Lottery players in the PA17 5AP postcode.

Stuart Allison, 67, was one of the four lucky winners and was delighted when Street Prize Presenter Angus Purden appeared at his door with news of his £12,000 win.

Originally from Paisley, Stuart and wife Janet play with two tickets and so won double the amount of their neighbours. A jubilant Stuart said "What a shock to receive so much- we're really pleased as we play to support good causes, so we didn't expect to win anything"

The pair- who are keen members of the village bowling club- have a fair few ideas as to how they'll spend their cash. What with home improvements, work on the garden and daughter Claire getting married in August, the money couldn't have come at a better for the Allisons!

With PA postcodes having won the weekly Street Prize five times before, the Cassidy's are gleefully looking forward to splashing the cash on a well deserved holiday in Easter and toasted their success with a glass of champagne each.

Two additional residents in the full winning postcode of PA17 5AP also received prizes of £6,000 each, but wished to remain anonymous.

What with a new prize plan, over 90 postcodes win prizes with the People's Postcode Lottery every week- meaning a further 72 winning tickets in the PA17 5 postcode sector also received £70 as part of the £5,000 Sector Prize. 386 more tickets across the UK also shared prizes of between £100 and £20.

Tickets for the charity lottery cost £2 and 40p of this goes directly to local causes, with tickets available on a subscription basis or through participating shops- visit www.winningpostcode.com to find your nearest.

Supported charities in Scotland include Missing People (in Scotland), the Scottish Wildlife Trust and Scotland's child welfare charity CHILDREN 1ST. Almost £4 million has been raised to date.
