A Skelmorlie resident has hit out over flooding on the A78.

Trevor Jones says Scotland Transerve was told last year there was a problem with a drain gully on Shore Road adjacent to the former Beach House site — but the gully still has not been repaired.

He told the “News”: “I was promised that it would be dealt with last summer. Pedestrians have little option, other than the single footpath at this point beside a narrow and very busy main road, for walking to Wemyss Bay.

“Going to Wemyss Bay pier and station involves ‘running the gauntlet’ of getting past this point without getting soaked in filthy water thrown up by vehicle wheels.

“On Sunday March 8 I contacted Scotland Transerve and advised them the “puddle” remained in place some 36-hours after it had appeared overnight Friday into Saturday.

“Two members of the Scotland Transerve team visited on Monday March 10, inspected, made notes and took photographs.” Trevor has since had further discussions with North Ayrshire Council Roads Department and Scotland Transerve in the hope of resolving flooding on the A78 at the former Beach House and other locations.

He said a council roads official was due to visit on Wednesday 18 March to inspect various locations.
