EMERGENCY services have recovered the body of a 14-year-old boy from a Paisley reservoir.

The boy, who has been named locally as Ben Thomson, was recovered from the water at 20:10. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were sent to Glenburn Reservoir just after 5.30pm on Tuesday.

Police Scotland’s dive and marine unit had been involved in the search since the alarm was raised at the site near Braehead Road.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “At around 5.35pm on Tuesday, police were called to Glenburn Reservoir, Braehead Road, Paisley, following a report that a teenage boy had gone into the water.

“The body of a 14-year-old boy was recovered at around 8.10pm.

“A post mortem examination will take place, however, the death is not thought to be suspicious.

“His family has been made aware and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
