Local residents and motorists will welcome a £10k investment in vital improvements to the drainage on the A78 at Auchengarth House between Largs and Skelmorlie commencing on 23 March 2015.

Scotland TranServ on behalf of Transport Scotland will upgrade the drainage on this route to alleviate flooding in the run up to the busy summer tourist season.

To ensure the safety of motorists and roadworkers alike traffic management the southbound road will be closed throughout the works. Traffic lights will be in operation during daytime hours with a total closure of the road between will be in place from 8.00pm until 6.00am.

Gordon Wilson, contract director, Scotland TranServ said: “This vital flood prevention scheme will significantly improve the current drainage system on the A78 between Largs and Skelmorie; benefiting local residents and motorists for years to come.” “Although works have been carefully programmed delays are inevitable therefore I would advise motorists to leave plenty of time for their journeys.” Motorists can keep up to date with real time traffic information by visiting the Traffic Scotland website and following their Twitter feed.
