Meigle Woman’s Institute

The Meigle Woman’s Institute hold their first meeting of the New Year on 19 January in the Skelmorlie Community Centre at 7.30. The evening will be a Beetle Drive and there will be a Bring and Buy Sales Table. There is a warm welcome to anyone wishing to join the ladies.

Inverkip Community Centre

Fitness classes are on offer at the newly opened Centre in Inverkip. Birsay Holistics Yoga Classes started on 11th January at 7.45pm. Anyone wishing to know more should contact Joanna on 07578373073.

Weight Watchers

Weight Watchers are holding their meetings on a Monday at 6.30pm in the Community Centre.

Damaged sign

The bus stop sign in the centre of Inverkip Main Street was damaged recently and on Saturday was lying on the pavement at the bus stop. The post could possibly have been damaged by a reversing car or vehicle.

Sunday Trains

During January and first Sunday in February trains on the Wemyss Bay line will only run to Paisley with buses from there to Glasgow. This is due to work on the Railway.

Inverkip Woman’s Institute

The first meeting of the New Year for the Institute is on 16th January when there will be a Microwave Cookery Demonstration. Competition is a Flask of Soup. Meeting in the Bonomy Room of the Church Hall at 7.30pm.

Country Peoples Club

The Country Peoples Club is having “A Musical afternoon with a tough of Burns” on 25th January in the Chartroom Kip Marina at2.30pm. The West Coast Strathspey and Reel Society will be providing the entertainment.

Inverkip Guild

A Scottish Night is planned for the Guild on 24th January at 7.30pm in the Bonomy Room of the Church hall at 7.30pm

Station Book Shop

The Book shop at Wemyss Bay Station is closed till early February.

Exercise

Fitness enthusiasts can join a class at Skelmorlie Community Centre for “Fatburn Extreme” a Torsal workout. There is a fee of £3 per class. This started on 5th January 8.15-8.45pm.

Litter

The roadside of the A78 outside Inverkip has become littered with paper etc. The overflowing bins over Christmas and New Year meant that unsecured rubbish has been blown everywhere.

W.E.A

The first meeting of the new session of the Workers’ Educational Association is on Wednesday 25 January when there will be a talk entitled “Land of Mountain, Flood and Bonnie Islands” The presentation will include music related to the Islands. The meeting is in the Skelmorlie Community Centre at 10am, teas and coffee available before hand at 9.30am.

Inverkip Community Hub

The Inverkip and Wemyss Bay Community Council have published on line on their Facebook page the proposed dates (to be confirmed) for activities at the new centre.

Crash on A78

The junction on A78 for entering Inverkip was the scene of another accident in the evening of the 10th January. Two cars were involved and one motorist has been charged with road traffic offences.
