Inverkip Guild

On 24 January, members of Inverkip Guild held a Scottish Night and after the meeting opened with it’s usual hymn, prayer and reading the group The Soggy Bunnets comprising of Ian Cowe, David Rourke, Judy Semple and joining them for the evening Katrina McPhail. The audience joined in singing some of the favourite songs and Alison Masterson read “To a Louse” by Rabbie Burns.

At the close of the evening a supper with a Scottish flavour was served. It was intimated that items for the forthcoming Silent Auction could be handed in at the next meeting on 7th February.

Well Done

Congratulations to all the children who have been taking part in the Inverclyde Music Festival over the past two weeks. Inverkip and Wemyss Bay primary School have done well as have older children at Greenock Schools.

Messy Church

The first meeting of the Messy Church in Inverkip on Saturday was a great success. A total of 35 youngsters and 22 adults were registered. The morning had action songs, bible story before getting busy with crafting. Pasta and crusty bread was served for lunch and the children were asking when they could come back again. The Messy Church will take place on the last Saturday of the month from now.

Concerned Pet Owners

People who walk their dogs on the shore at Ardgowan expressed concern when they heard of the death of one of the dogs regularly walked there and that another dog was very ill. It was wondered if the problem was once again the poisonous root of a plant exposed to animals that was causing problems last year.

Dog Mess

While there are responsible owners the subject of dog mess was brought to the attention of the community council. It appears that on Monday 30 January that a mess that hadn’t been lifted by a dog owner had been trailed into the School playground and this prompted reports of many more instances over the weekend. The bridge over the motor way was one place highlighted.
