There was a report of an accident at Kip Marina on Friday March 31 when a woman fell 6 feet while working on a boat. The boat was on the “hard” at the Marina and emergency service were at the scend. New Bus Times

McGill buses have altered their time table and extended the route of the 547 bus which will run from Greenock to Gourock, Inverkip, Wemyss Bay, Skelmorlie and upper Skelmorlie from 10th April replacing the 578/580. The Clyde Flyer is running every 15 mins. Glasgow to Largs from 3rd April.

Farmers Market

The popular Farmers market is returning to Kip Marina on 17th April. Open from 11am to 4pm.

Trains

Travellers on the Wemyss Bay Glasgow line are wondering how long they will have to put up with the old style “beige” and maroon carriages which run at certain times of the day. These are replacing ones that are being used to train drivers on another line at the moment.

Drunken Behaviour

The evidence that there had been some drunken behaviour of youths in Inverkip was evident by the Gin bottle and rubbish left on the Station Road on Friday31st February.

Baking Success

The young folk of Inverkip Church and parents provided baking for sale and for the tea after the morning service on Sunday 9th April to raise money for Red Nose Day. To date the sum is £206.83.

East African Appeal

Over two Sunday’s Skelmorlie and Wemyss Bay Church had collections for the Disasters Emergency Committee East Africa Appeal and the magnificent amount they raised was enhanced by Gift Aid which raised the £830.60 to over £1000.

Inverkip Institute

The members of Inverkip Institute met for their AGM on Monday April 3. Mr John Muir O.B.E. was the guest speaker. John known to many of the members spoke of how the murder of his son Damien in 2007 had affected his family and how he had taken on the task to highlight the terrible knife crimes that happen and the effect they had on families. He discovered through the trial of the person who had murdered Damien just how the Law works or doesn’t work in cases like this. John took his fight to the Debating Chamber of Holyrood and made 132 representations there. The statistics are bad though there has been a drop in knife crimes in some areas. John says the age of perpetrators has risen in some cases.

Penning a Poem “I’ll look into it” John showed how he felt things were being handled by authority.

It is hoped that by setting up a charity with those who have been with him in his work on Knife Crime they may be able to help less privileged young people at Colleges by supplying them with books for their courses. John was thanked for stepping in to talk to the group.

The Competition for the evening of a Decorated hard boiled egg was won by Margaret Anderson, 2nd Kate McPhail with 3rd Alison Masterson.

The Fun Competition for a Cute Egg Cup results were, 1st Anne Hunter, 2nd Beth Wallace and 3rd Katy McIntyre.

The Trophy for winner for the session was awarded to Margaret Anderson and the Quaich was presented to Betty Howie.

Bus Stops

Bus travellers in Skelmorlie will have discovered that the areas where the buses stop on the shore side of the A78 in Skelmorlie now have large yellow areas painted at them. There can’t be many bus stops like them anywhere as the small concrete platforms are only capable of holding four passengers at the most and leave those standing there at the mercy of the weather.
