CRAFT FAYRE
Fairlie Fairtrade Initiative will have a pop-up stall in the Gallery, Wemyss Bay Station, on Saturday 9 December, 10am - 4pm. Christmas cards and gifts, unusual artisan crafts from around the world, new flavours of fairtrade chocolate, and sweet treats to taste and to buy."
PAVEMENT PARKING
The problem of cars parking on pavements in Inverkip in the middle of the village continues. After seeing someone having to go onto the road with a pram last week because of an open van door a couple of weeks later there was no way past as the parked vehicles were close to the metal fence round the old Police Station.
CHRISTMAS CARDS
Every house in Inverkip should have received a Christmas card from Inverkip Church. These were being delivered by church members. The cards design was chosen from ones drawn by members of the Friday Zone children. This year's card was designed by 10 year old Bruce Benson.
GIFT SERVICE
The service on 10th December is the annual Gift Service. The congregation are asked to bring a gift for a young child. Gifts not to be wrapped please, these will be attended to by the Salvation Army who will distribute them for Christmas.
GUILD
Inverkip Guild met on Tuesday and heard of the work of the Inverclyde Tourist Group from Mr Bob Webster. Mr. Webster was able to tell the group about how the Tourist Group works with the many visitors who come to Greenock on the cruiseships. From visits to the Granny Kempock stone in Gourock to the Greenock Town Hall and Newark Castle, the visitors learn about the area. Buses take some visitors further afield and many remark on the beautiful scenery as being something they will remember from the trip. Bob told many stories about questions the Tourist Group are asked and the members enjoyed his talk. Members were reminded of the Christmas Fayre on the 2nd and reminded that the Guild were manning the baking stall. The next evening for the Guild is their Christmas Meal at Inverkip Hotel on 12th December.
MEIGLE RURAL
The Meigle Rural are holding their Christmas Meal at Haylie House Largs on 14th December.
W.E.A.
The meeting of the W.E.A. on December will be the last one of the session. A Seasonal Quiz has been organised and Sherry and Shortbread will be served. Skelmorlie Community Centre at 10am.
FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE
The Friendship Circle extend an invitation to join them on 8th December at 7,30pm in Skelmorlie and Wemyss Bay Church when the DaCapo Singers will entertain. Money from the evening will be donated to Ardgowan Hospice.
SKELMORLIE AND WEMYSS BAY CHURCH
Members of the church are asked to volunteer to deliver Christmas cards in the area. These are ready for distribution.
CHRISTMAS FRIDAY SOUPS
The Friday Soups on the 12th December will be a festive affair. Served from 12am in Skelmorlie Church.
WATER PROBLEM
The water lying on the Main Road in Skelmorlie by the Post Office is still there. Passing the road works there last week it was hoped by some that this was what was being attended to. It appears that it was to do with Broadband connection at that point.
