New councillor wants A78 urgency

The busy A78 has been pinpointed as one of the main issues to be tackled by Wemyss Bay and Inverkip"s newest councillor.

Village man Innes Nelson, 52, won the Inverclyde South West by-election for the Scottish National Party with 1,087 votes - just over 50 per cent of the first and second preference votes. Then, immediately after being declared the winner, he highlighted the increasingly scrutinised road as a top priority for action - and believes the Inverkip power station site could be an integral part of that bid.
