The Workers’ Educational Association - Skelmorlie and Wemyss Bay Branch are hosting a talk about the company behind the Titanic.
It takes place on Wednesday 13 November and is entitled: “The Beloved, the Damned & the Forgotten” - Before World War 1 the White Star company commissioned three luxury liners the Olympic, Titanic and Britannic.
The Olympic became a well loved regular on the Atlantic run, the Titanic sank on her maiden voyage and the Britannic served as a hospital ship during the War and was sunk during the Dardanelles Campaign. Hence the title of the talk given by Bill Fitzgerald.
The Workers’ Educational Association - Skelmorlie and Wemyss Bay Branch meet on Wednesday morning from 9.45 until 11.30 at the latest. They meet in the Reading Room of Skelmorlie Community Centre in Upper Skelmorlie and start meetings with a welcome tea/coffee and a chance to catch up with friends old and new. For any further information please contact Jenny McGee (521090) or Ruth Murray (522517)
