It is advantage West Kilbride as the next stage of the community sports centre is about to take shape within the glen.

Planning permission has been successfully granted by North Ayrshire Council for a new tennis pavilion, following the successful opening of the tennis courts in April by Judy Murray.

The new facility will include club room area, toilet facilities and kitchenette - the former pavilion has been in existence for many years, but this will be a new modern and purpose built facility.

The durable one-piece construction walls include galvanised steel cladding offering protection against fire and extreme weather, and accidental damage.

The building will be close to the tennis courts for one-step easy access, and the roof is solar reflective, and designed to prevent condensation problems.

Protection against theft and vandalism is also provided by the design architects, McMillan & Cronin, and the windows are fully double glazed.

It is 'Game, Set and Match' for the organisers after they managed to raise around £200,000 towards the new facility, praised as one of the best in Ayrshire.

The principal funders were Sportscotland , The Moffat Charitable Trust, North Ayrshire Council and West Kilbride Community Trust with substantial additional funding contributed by a wide range of local businesses and individuals.

The project comprises three floodlit artificial grass tennis courts at the Nethermiln Recreation Ground, Kirktonhall Glen. An application for the new pavilion area has been sent to North Ayrshire Council, and is awaiting approval.
