Not only has West Kilbride bagged the British High Street award, but some of its creative artists are behind the design of the new Scottish five pound note.
The Royal Bank of Scotland fiver has a number of surprise elements to it, even including the Scottish midge, and artists from the village have played their part in creating the design.
Kay Hall, chair of the West Kilbride Initiative, said: "The new Scottish £5 note is fascinating and involved local artists. Jeni Lennon and Stuart Kerr. The new RSB £5 note designed from West Kilbride Craft Town Scotland!"

And there are further West Kilbride links according to Jeni Lennon who added: "Not forgetting Jacob McBain, Oscar Gaunt, Lorna Reid and Sophie Munn, Plus Ian Smith played at the the thank you party in Edinburgh for the bank - as a village we really punched above our weight on this one."
Stuart designed the two mackerel which appear on the back of the bank note, due to their importance to the Scottish fishing industry.
Ironically, the West Kilbride artist suffers from a severe fish allergy, but put art to the forefront in order to produce the accurate design.
Stuart had to draw the images from real life, so while his assistant held the fish up, he bravely carried on while trying not to breathe.
And using the Blippar app on mobile phones, it is possible to see the fish swim around Stuart's design in 3D, and has a number of other virtual reality surprises.
The new fiver will also have many other Scottish links including the Cairngorms, Scottish novelist and poet Nan Shepherd, and of course, the scourge of Scotland - the midges!
