POLICE are appealing for information following a robbery in West Kilbride on Sunday afternoon.

Around 4.35pm yesterday (Sunday), at the Key Store on Main Street in West Kilbride, two men entered the premises, with one of the men presenting a weapon and threatening a member of staff. 

After robbing a three-figure sum of money from the shop, they made off on foot in the direction of Glen Road and onto Orchard Street, West Kilbride.

The member of staff, a 24-year-old woman, was left in a state of shock following the incident. 

The first suspect is described as a white man with a local accent. He was approximately 5ft8/5ft9 and was wearing dark clothing. He was wearing a dark hat with a scarf across his face at the time of the incident. He was wearing dark coloured Adidas tracksuit bottoms with three stripes on the outside of the leg. 

The second suspect is described as a white man with a local accent. He was approximately 5ft8/5ft9 and was wearing dark clothing. He was also wearing a dark hat with a scarf across his face at the time of the incident. 

Detective Sergeant John Deans, from Saltcoats CID, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to trace the men responsible.  

"Staff from the shop are extremely shaken after this incident and we are looking to gather any additional information that could assist in our investigation.

"If anyone has any information or knowledge about the incident or the suspects, please contact us and pass it on.”  

Officers are in the area to provide reassurance to local people.  Anyone with any concerns is encouraged to approach and discuss the matter with officers.
