Police say they are following a lead in relation to a shocking fly-tipping incident at Portencross.
Residents have reacted with fury to the illegal dumping of rubbish at the well known beauty spot.
Sergeant Alexandra Marshall commented "Police work in partnership with North Ayrshire Council to ensure regular patrols are conducted throughout North Ayrshire in order to identify areas where fly tipping may have occurred.
"Fly tipping is an offence which will result in a fixed penalty fine being issued and further action thereafter if this fine is not paid. Any incidents of fly tipping can be reported to North Ayrshire Council http://www.north-ayrshire.gov.uk/resident/bins-litter-and-recycling/litter-and-fly-tipping-removal.aspx and also to Police Scotland by calling 101."
