Scottish Conservative Leader Ruth Davidson MSP paid an unexpected visit to West Kilbride on Saturday.

She visited the village to boost their North Ayrshire local election campaign ahead of the vote in May.

Ruth met with West Scotland MSP Jamie Greene, Richard Wilkinson, Chairman of the North Ayrshire Conservative Association and Todd Ferguson, the party’s candidate for the West Kilbride and Dalry ward, where they spent the afternoon asking local people for their views on a second independence referendum.

Jamie Greene MSP commented: “It was great to have Ruth in North Ayrshire on the weekend as we chatted to local people and put the case for electing Scottish Conservative councillors this May.”

“What’s clear from what we heard on the doorstep is that people want Nicola Sturgeon to focus on the real issues such as our NHS and school crisis and to stop pursuing another divisive referendum. People want the SNP to face up to the problems that Scotland faces instead of using independence to deflect from their failures in government.”

“Let’s use the vote this May to send a message to Nicole Sturgeon in Edinburgh.”

Todd Fergusson commented: “It was brilliant to have the support of Ruth and Jamie on the doorsteps listening to the concerns of local people. These elections are an opportunity for the local people to send a clear message to the SNP that they should ditch independence and get back on with the day job.”
