It is ‘Game, Set and Match’ for the organisers after they managed to raise around £200,000 towards the new facility, praised as one of the best in Ayrshire, which opened last year.
The principal funders were Sportscotland , The Moffat Charitable Trust, North Ayrshire Council and West Kilbride Community Trust with substantial additional funding contributed by a wide range of local businesses and individuals.
The project comprises three floodlit artificial grass tennis courts at the Nethermiln Recreation Ground, Kirktonhall Glen, West Kilbride.
Judy Murray officially opened the new West Kilbride tennis courts last April, with Jamie Moffatt, of the Moffat Charitable Trust, of West Kilbride, where a plaque was unveiled.
The courts are named the ‘Margie Moffat tennis courts’ in memory of Jamie’s mother, with The Moffat Charitable Trust one of the principal funders behind the ‘ace’ project. Hundreds of people turned up to see the official launch.
