A one-woman show by West Kilbride artist, author and human rights activist, Fiona Macintosh opens at the Harbour Arts Centre in Irvine on Wednesday, May 10.

The exhibition will showcase striking black and white images printed on fabric and paper that Fiona (65) created to illustrate her best-selling book “Rosa of the Wild Grass” which was published last year.

The book tells the true story of a poor but community-spirited Nicaraguan family who welcomed Fiona into their home when she worked in the Central American republic during the Sandanista revolution in the 1980s.

The exhibition will also feature an art work created for the show by pupils from St. Matthews’s Academy in Saltcoats who worked with Fiona on the subject of “what does community mean”.

Fiona who has a studio in Irvine, will also be hosting a workshop, reading and Latino picnic at the Harbour Arts Centre on Sunday, May 28th.

The exhibition, “Mi Casa Es Su Casa” (“My Home is Your Home”) runs until July 2.
