A new West Kilbride action group has set up to help provide support when the new one way system is introduced to the town as a result of the traffic management plans.

The group intends to give affordable ideas to North Ayrshire Council of how the main streets might get a bit of an upgrade when the one way system is implemented.

A number of suggestions are being looked into including bike stands, painting of street furniture and a new phone box.

Some pavement and road repairs are happening at the moment. It is also hopes to remove the red dog bins and replace these with multi-use bins in the area.

The provision of new signage is another aim of the new group with coloured labelled arrows pointing towards the beach, village centre, and other areas of importance in the village.

Revealed on the village community council's facebook page, the new West Kilbride development group meets every three months, and gives the opportunity for community groups to come together to talk about their latest activities and to see where they can team up and support each other.

It said: "This group intends to give affordable ideas to NAC of how the main streets might get a bit of an upgrade when the one way system is implemented."

They also share projects such as planning changes to natural open spaces around the village and they help to set up projects such as the Youth Cafe.
