British Transport Police are appealing for information from the publi after a woman was sexually assaulted on a train between Kilwinning and Largs.

A spokesman for the British Transport Police said: "A man made inappropriate comments to a woman at Kilwinning station then touched her inappropriately on a train travelling to Largs.

"At around 11.30pm on Monday 26 June, a woman was approached by a male at Kilwinning station, he then started making inappropriate comments and followed her onto the 11.51pm ScotRail service to Largs.

"During the journey the comments continued, the man then touched her inappropriately before he left the service at West Kilbride."

He was white, 5’8, around 22-years-old and had a local accent. He was wearing a dark polo top, a green checked coat, dark work trouser and dirty work boots.

Detectives are looking to hear from anyone who may know someone that matches this description. Likewise, they’d be keen to speak with any passengers who were on this service and witnessed a man acting in an inappropriate manner.
