Organisers of a new festival for West Kilbride are calling on locals to get involved.

Vertex is an arts and music festival run by volunteers taking place over ten days this month.

As well as attending events, there are opportunities for locals to support the festival by volunteering.

One of the festival’s organisers is villager Chris Maughan, a former festival researcher. Chris said: “The festival is bringing together artists, musicians, makers and writers over ten days of events, concerts and workshops.

“We want people from West Kilbride and beyond to support the festival by coming along to events.

“Vertex is run by volunteers, so we are also looking for people who can get involved by helping during the festival.

“That might mean helping set up venues, managing events or taking tickets.

“Volunteering opportunities might suit a young person looking to boost their CV or anyone who want to support a new festival for their community.”

Vertex takes place between 20 and 29 October at venues in West Kilbride including the Barony Centre, the Community Centre and the Village Hall.

Tickets for events are available at the festival box office in the Barony Centre from Monday to Friday between 11am and 1pm.
