A CAMPAIGN to save a playpark in West Kilbride came to a head this week as furious parents blocked council workmen from dismantling chutes and climbing frames.
A plea at the turn of the year from village councillor Joy Brahim asking a community group take over the running of Craufurd Avenue swing park in passed with no firm offer - prompting the council to arrive to remove the equipment on Monday morning.
But they were met by a group of young mums who refused to budge - resulting in the workmen leaving empty-handed.
Protestor Laura Parker said: "We were horrified and I told them that I wasn't going to move."

A repreive has been granted for the playpark while a community group including the local mums try to take it over. Full story in next week's paper.
