A local resident has expressed fears over the future of West Kilbride Post Office.

Writing in the Largs & Millport News Mr A Notts has said that moving the P.O. to the village Spar shop is not the answer.

He stated in a letter: "Regarding views on the future of West Kilbride Post Office it seems like the post office bosses have already made up their mind.

" The consultation document is biased and heavily weighted in favour of using the Spar as the new venue. If the Spar shop takes over services then there will, in effect, be one less service till. The Spar only has one compared to the current two." Mr Notts added: " I am concerned about the security of stored items, the increased waiting times and the fact that Spar will put itself first before customers.

"The Royal Mail can pay its top execs millions in bonuses, yet can’t keep a viable Post Office running in its present state. To pretend that we are being consulted is insulting. It’s all about profiteering and forgetting local history." A page of views every week in the Largs & Millport Weekly News
