North Ayrshire MP Katy Clark is to be shown around the dilapidated Kirktonhall building in West Kilbride as efforts continue to restore the 17th century building.

Kirktonhall Creative Media Group are hoping to resurrect the building and use it as a multimedia centre, The local MP will be visiting Kirktonhall, which is rarely open to the public, on Tuesday 18 February and will be shown around by Media Group secretary Jurie Duvenage.

He said: “Ms Clark is supporting our group and she will be coming on Tuesday to see what the building is looking like. It is important to make people aware of the status of Kirktonhall and something really needs to get done to help bring the building back to life.” Kirktonhall is a ‘B’ listed building and the sundial which is positioned in front of the building has an ‘A’ listing.

The Kirktonhall Media Group has been busy in recent weeks in various workshops at their new premises which has opened in 6 Ritchie Street.

And on Saturday 15 February, there is a digital media workshop taking place to address the specific training needs of the elderly population of West Kilbride and Millport.

The project will train people in the use of new technology including Skype, social media and provide awareness of security issues related to internet use. Digital champions will be specifically trained for this project and will provide the assistance for the participants of this project.
