The Scottish Spina Bifida Association (SSBA) staged their prestigious Burns Supper in Glasgow - with the help of a West Kilbride butcher.

The event was chaired by The Rt Hon. The Lord Robertson with guest speakers who included Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon MSP and comedienne Karen Dunbar - but there was also a giant horseshoe haggis from J Climie Butchers from West Kilbride.

This traditional Burns Supper staged at the Glasgow Hilton and is one of the most established and popular Burns Suppers to be staged in Scotland.

Charles Donaldson, Master Butcher and owner of J. Climie, said: “We are delighted to have played our part in helping the SSBA give life-long support to over 3,500 Scottish children, young adults and families who have been affected by spina bifida.” “When you learn that the majority of those born with the condition will be paralysed from the waist down and will be life-long wheel chair users and that 80% of those born with the disability also have hydrocephalus that causes additional neurological problems, how could we not help such an important Charity?” Deborah Roe, Director of Fundraising for the SSBA, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Charles Donaldson and all at J. Climie’s of West Kilbride for their continued generosity.” To pledge your support to help fund raise for the SSBA and it’s vital work, email: fundraising@ssba.org.uk or telephone: 01236 794508.
