Mrs Marguerite Adam wants urgent remedial action to prevent West Kilbride Glen from being overgrown and dangerous to pets.

In a letter to the 'News' she stated: "I am writing to express the dissatisfaction of a considerable number of West Kilbride residents at the current condition of the “wild” part of the glen.

While the football field, extension and the other areas of grass are well maintained by North Ayrshire Council’s ground staff, albeit their numbers have been considerable depleted, the two fields purchased some years ago to increase “open space” in West Kilbride are in a deplorable condition.

The brambles are out of control in the top field leading to the extension, the grass is so high and widespread that most of the side and bottom half of the path circumnavigating the field is obscured and the fruit trees and the brambles along the bottom are hazardous to the legs of walkers and the eyes, ears and other parts of dogs.

Furthermore there is hardly a fruit tree that has any fruit - no wonder as the trees both at the top and bottom of this field are being choked by grass and brambles. As for the bottom field, this resembles a jungle and is becoming virtually impassable - it may be we are supposed to be armed with machetes to clear the way! "
