The clock in the spire of the Barony Centre in West Kilbride is finally lit up for all to see.

With help from Peter Donohoe, Community Services Officer, Frank Rose and Billy Ray from 1 Sparky, Largs, the electrics were reinstalled and colour was introduced to the faces as well.

With a little adjustment the colours were slowed down and from certain places in the village the spire clock complements the wonderful colours of the windows in the Parish Church. The colour from the Barony roof lighting and the café ceiling also add quality to a wonderful Christmas feeling.

The next step is to clean and reinstate all the clock mechanisms and tenders have been invited already. A spokesperson for Craft Town Scotland stated: “We hope to have the clock working by Yuletide night”. By now you will know this was nearly achieved.

Kay Hall Chairperson of Craft Town Scotland added, “Some teething problems are being experienced but with very kind help from J Morrow and Sons Ltd of West Kilbride and HE Weir and Sons of Edinburgh we hope to have these resolved very soon. Our thanks go to NAC, the May Lockhart Trust and West Kilbride Community Trust for their financial support and encouragement which allowed this project to go ahead.” In the New Year further maintenance work will be carried out on the spire and then all will be ready for another busy year in the Barony Centre, Craft Town Scotland, West Kilbride.
