Libraries in Largs, Fairlie, Skelmorlie and West Kilbride are facing a mixed bag of proposals Largs library is set to see opening hours cut by up to 12.5 hours a week, while West Kilbride will reduce by three hours.

However, Fairlie and Skelmorlie would maintain current hours, but with a reworked timetable.

North Ayrshire Council says this means that none of libraries would close.

Largs Library is currently open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 7.30pm most of the week, from 9am to 12.30pm on Wednesdays and 10am to 5pm on Saturdays - a total of 52.5 hours a week.

Two options have been developed - one which will reduce opening to 42 hours a week and another at 40 hours a week.

Fairlie would maintain its nine hours week, with an increase in hours on a Tuesday, but slightly shorter opening on either a Thursday or Friday. Skelmorlie Library, which is currently open on Monday, Thursday and Friday for 15 hours.

Like Fairlie, both options would be maintain the opening hours. West Kilbride is currently open 28 hours a week over five days.
