The new Largs crematorium is on Largs’ most important commuter route and tourist access. Everyone who uses it on a daily basis knows it is already a bad road with more than its fair share of reckless drivers.

A crematorium on this road will increase the amount of traffic in both directions (much of it slow moving) and without a large scale redevelopment and improvement of the entire road between Largs and Kilbirnie (which your article fails to mention and which I doubt is on the cards) will inevitably lead to an increase in the number of accidents.

Largs driver I fail to see how this is an environmentally friendly plan. The hillsides there are marshy and waterlogged and it will take substantial disruption to landscape them as described and provide the utilities needed for a crematorium. How will this construction be offset?

The area has already been scarred by the windfarm. This will further destroy habitats (despite their bird box plan!) and replace them with an artificial environment. ...and of course the number of accidents on that road will increase.

RB Bryan Did the folk who are complaining make their views known at the time to the planners? After all it was well advertised and in the ‘Wee Paper’. If not, no point “greetin” now! What about the longer drive to Greenock or south past Irvine where there was a bad accident last week. The extra costs for the bereaved, the time taken not important?Drive to the conditions. So there is a cortege? Wait five minutes and it will pass. Have patience, and it will mean less vehicles on the Fairlie road.

I understand some of the concerns but the new crematorium is closer by far. Look at the A78 during recent weeks. Northbound bad crash results in road closed, during high seas the road is closed, south bound roadworks. Delays and more delays.

On balance I would say that there will be less delays for the Largs one.Greenock is fine for a service but the delay for the family in getting a service is now taking too long.
