Scandinavian dog owner was no Great Dane!
It was a case of 'No Poo on My Parade' during the Largs Viking Festival on Saturday afternoon.
A bizarre incident happened during the parade when a dog owner from Denmark was given a warning for allowing his pet dog to 'poo' in a public place.
Ironically, the local campaigning group of young mums who launched the 'No Poo on my Shoe' group happened to have a float on the parade and were passing by the Scandinavian visistor when he allowed his dog to do the business near the Largs Prom, without clearing up the mess.
`No Poo on My Shoe` campaigner Maureen Muir said: `A campaigner's dad approached the dog-owner about the matter. He replied to mind his own business. We got wind of it and the matter was reported to the police.
`It was good it happened there at the time. The offence actually happened when the float was passing by and we were all shouting `No Poo on My Shoe`.
A police spokesman confirmed that a dog owner was spoken to and igven a warning and he subsequently pikced up the offending mess and deposited it in a doggie bin.
The day finished with good news for the `No Poo on My Shoe` group as they won the £100 prize for the best parade float sponsored by Beachcombers ice cream kiosk on Largs prom.
