A new action group has been set up by young mums in Largs to eradicate dogs dirt from ours treets will be opened up to everyone in the local community.

The organisation - entitled "No Poo on My Shoe" - has been formed to clear the Largs streets of dog excrement and promote the importance of responsible ownership by means on a constructive, non-confrontational campaign.

The ideas has gained momentum with a small committee of young mums coming together to form the group.

The Largs and Millport Weekly News are supporting the campaign and we will be featuring the projects of the new group over the coming months.

Representatives of the organisation said this week: "Dog excrement is noth hazardous and unsightly, and the extent of the problem has become so extreme that the members of this group have been incited to take action. Talks with many local residents have highlighted that the overwhelming majority of people in Largs are dissatisfied with the current situation , but feel that a lone voice will make no difference."

"We intend to adopt a wide-ranging approach to unite the people of Largs in a productive manner in order to make a difference to our local environment.

"We feel that this is an opportune time to launch our campaign as local schools, politicians and environmentalists are continually reminding us of the benefits to people and to the environment of leaving cars and choosing to walk instead.our campaign aims to be positive, humourous and inspiring and we look forward to working with a wide variety of people in near future."
