Largs AFC 9-0 Crookedholm

It was raining goals at Barrfields on Saturday as Largs AFC defeated an injury-hit Crookedholm side 9-0, a game which included a first Largs hat-trick for Scott Fraser.

Largs went into the game on the back of two successive league victories, which have lifted the local side out of the Division Two drop zone, while Crookedholm, currently sitting at the bottom of the table, had been hit by a number of injuries and call-offs pre-match.

It didn't take long for the deadlock to be broken, and it was a familiar face who did so for Largs. Controlling a pass from Fraser, Grant Cockerill, who has been in fine goalscoring form of late, fired home from close range.

David Mitchell slotted home comfortably for number two.

Fraser scored the first of his treble before the break as Largs went into the half-time break looking comfortable.

Fraser's second goal of the afternoon came from a superb looping header following a fine in-swinging cross from McMillan. By this stage Largs were in total command, playing some tidy possession football. Further goals were added by Brendan Hill, Gordon Wilson, Alistair McGowan, Scott Cameron - whose superb, right-foot effort from the edge of the box was the pick of the afternoon's goals - and Fraser, Largs very own Jamie Vardy completing his hat-trick.

Special mention has to be given to the Crookedholm goalkeeper who, despite conceding nine times, pulled off a string of terrific saves, including a stunning tip over the bar when a sweet strike from Cameron.

Largs will look to put further distance between themselves and the relegation zone with another three points when they welcome Drongan to Largs this Saturday.

The home side would like to thank JG Sharps for their continued support, sponsorship and hospitality.
