Thistle assistant boss Arnie believes it is important that the club makes some more signings to boost the squad heading into the final ten league games of the season.
The league leaders face a tricky visit away to Cumbernauld - scene of their Great Escape triumph last season. It is a 2pm kick-off on Saturday, and the team bus leaves Barrfields Park at 11.15am (phone Don on 675405 to book a seat).
Arnie, a.k.a Stuart Davidson, said; "You can't do transfers after March, so we are hoping to try and beef up the squad and get another one or two in if we can. The midweek games take its toll and we need to be prepared. We have come this far and now getting into the nitty gritty and we want to go on and win it, rather than fall away. Midweek games are hard , and it is a totally different period of the season.
"Some people are working, suspended, or injured, and we need to try and prepare and make sure we are challenging right to the end."
Largs missed out on transfer target, ex-Talbot striker John Boyle, but are keen to strengthen and on the look-out for 'versatile' players.
Thistle are seven points clear in the McBookie.com 1st Division, and are ready for this Saturday's challenge. Arnie said: "Cumbernauld is going to be a tough game - we have played them three times and they have all been tight games. Cumbernauld are a very competitive side and they like to play football, and we have a plan in place to combat that. We learn from each time we play them, and we will take that into the game
"I wouldn't say that either team has been the better team during our encounters - they have been evenly matched games. Their manager seemed to think we were better last year, but I think we have improved, so we will see where that takes us on Saturday.
Looking at the league position, Arnie commented: "It has turned into a competitive league and many of the top teams can push for promotion. The consistency of Clydebank, Kilwinning, Cumnock and ourselves has been fantastic, but it is important not to look too far ahead.

Largs and Millport Weekly News:

"Some people may say it is ours to throw away, but that is going too far. With the teams in hand, Cumnock can take over us, and Kilwinning and Clydebank can get right close to us. However, I'd rather have the points in the bag now.
"We can look towards our form at this stage last season when we went on 'The Great Escape' to avoid relegation, and we beat three of the top four teams, Pollok, Shettleston and Cumbernauld, and we were down the bottom end of the table. There are a lot of hard battles to come, and we need to win as many of them as we can."
"The boys have shown they can do it, and we need to dig in deep for these last ten games."
The Barrfields side were without a game on Saturday after their Craigmark cup tie was postponed, and the management team watched promotion rivals Kilwinning defeat Greenock 4-2. Arnie said: "Kilwinning were very dangerous going forward, and scored three goals from set-pieces, but personally I would be very disappointed if I had been Greenock to concede from three set pieces. I thought we saw Kilwinning on a bad day, but I honestly think if we play our best, we can be more than a match for them."
