Largs AFC 2 Ochiltree United 4

Largs AFC let a two goal lead evaporate against mid-table side Ochiltree in another classic game of two halves.

Defensive errors coupled with a generally poor second half performance proved to be the downfall for the home side.

AFC's Cameron though showed great skill to create space for himself before firing low into the net, with the aid of a slight deflection.

The away side came flying out the blocks in the second half and quickly put pressure on the Largs defence. The striker saw his effort come off the top of the bar after good build up play. Unfortunately the home side did not heed the early warning and Ochiltree pulled a goal back in bizarre circumstances. A shot from just outside the box again came off the bar and went up into the air. As it came back down to earth neither Cunningham nor his defence were able to recover as the ball bounced on the line with the spin taking it into the net.

The away side sent several crosses into the box. These were not cleared and after a stramash the ball was bundled over the line for the equaliser. .

The visitors then took the lead after the spin on the ball meant for an awkward bounce which saw the ball squirm through the keepers’ hands.

After a quick Cruyff turn, an Ochiltree forward curled one into the top corner of the net with the outside of his left boot – this time giving Cunningham no chance. It capped off a great fightback from the away side but it was massive disappointment for Largs.

Largs travel to Kilmarnock AFC this Saturday, before playing the first of their midweek games away to Irvine on Wednesday 20 April.

Largs AFC would like to thank JG Sharps for their continued support, as well as Hillhouse Quarry Group Ltd for their sponsorship for kit bags and match day jackets.
