Largs Thistle U19s 2 Mossvale St James U19s 2

Largs were first on the attack with Ross McKay shooting just over the bar, followed by a Lloyd Dicks shot going narrowly wide.

The first Largs goal came in 20 minutes with Jack Traynor running up the wing and firing over a 30 yard cross/ shot that deceived the Mossvale keeper and flew into the top corner of the net, 1-0 Largs.

Adam Paterson–McKeen captain for the day was showing great skill, determination and hard tackling, while driving the team on assisted by Shaun Galloway.

The second goal was started from Jack Rafferty running into the Mossvale penalty box to cut the ball backwards and was finished by Lloyd Dicks to put Thistle two up.

Next chance fell to Jack Rafferty who saw his shot go just wide of the post.

Mossvale had a few chances, with the best chance forcing Largs keeper Calum Murray into making a good point blank save. Largs player Mathew Ashe was harshly booked for a tackle outside the penalty box resulting in Calum Murray again punching away the free kick.

Mossvale were awarded a penalty with about 12 minutes to go after Jack Traynor was adjudged to have man handled the opposition forward, a well taken penalty gave the keeper no chance. This seemed to spur Mossvale into action and they sensed they may get something from the game, with minutes remaining a cross ball into the box was poorly defended and the Mossvale forward shot past the keeper from four yards. Late in the game the hard working Harry Donaldson has a free kick, but it went over the bar, final score 2-2.

This was a game that Thistle were well in control of for the vast majority of the time but need to keep their concentration and learn to see out the game if they are to take the full points.
