Jeanfield Swifts 6 Largs Thistle 3

Largs started brightly in Perth but faded alarmingly fast as they suffered a heavy defeat in Saturday's friendly.

Thistle began positively and opened the scoring on ten minutes as Robert Love tapped home from James Marks smart cross.

A Marks pinpoint header seemed destined for the back of the net but the Jeanfield keeper clawed the ball away.

Gary Fleming put Largs 2-0 up after a stunning strike from 25 yards into the top left corner.

There were some fiery challenges going in for a friendly but Jeanfield staged a stunning 12 minute recovery to leave Largs shell shocked.

On 28 minutes, Swifts scored from close range, Alan Gilbride tripped a striker for a spot kick which was slammed home on 37 minutes, and the first half comeback was complete on 39 minutes as a triangular passing move left the Largs defence chasing shadows allowing Jeanfield to net from close range unmarked.

Matt Bennett slammed a cross come shot across he face of goal from the left as Largs attempted to restore parity.

The Perth side moved 4-2 up after a long range effort through a ruck of players on 61 minutes.

Sean Graham made some important stops in the one move as Largs were struggling to adapt to Jeanfield's fast flowing wing play.

The home side added another on 67 minutes before a sub rounded Graham to net number six on 78 minutes.

Kevin Struthers scored a consolation after brute determination on his part to overcome some challenges before prodding home from six yards.

After such a strong start against decent opposition, Largs fell apart and provides plenty of food for thought before the new season cranks into gear on Saturday 6 August.
