Largs Thistle boss Bryan Slavin has set his sights on a top six finish in the Premier League as the new season gets underway on Saturday against Rob Roy.
Thistle are running a bus to the game which leaves Barrfields Park at 11.30am, tickets are £10 for adults and £6 for children/OAPs (Call Peter on 07512706478)
It is a 2pm kick-off at Guys Meadow, Cumbernauld, where Rob Roy are ground-sharing.
Bryan said: "The target is definitely a top six - it is undoubtedly the aim. I don't buy into this ideology that we have just went up, so let's avoid relegation. That's nonsense. We need to set our targets a good bit higher, and push ourselves in all the cup competitions.
"Last season, everything played second fiddle to the league, and we achieved what we wanted to achieve there. The league is still our main business, but it is our upgrade on last season's goal. We want to do well in the cup competitions, as I feel we have a chance of winning something under our set-up."
Thistle have a few injuries to contend with after both Jamie McDonald and Matt Bennett had to abandon training on Monday evening after niggles, while Thistle are hoping Kevin Struthers and Larry McMahon will be back to fitness. Bryan himself says he may be struggling to make it for Saturday on the playing side, after playing two full games of 90 minutes within three days.
Bryan said: "We are still trying to work on bringing in new players. We are fighting on all fronts, with injuries, and trying to strengthen the squad for the weekend.
"In terms of our approach, we are not in the worst place to start at a ground that is familiar to us at Cumbernauld, although it will be a completely different team in Rob Roy we are playing. There are a lot of unknowns for us this season, but it is all about how we set up and go about our business - that is what will make the difference this season."
"I am comfortable that we are in a better position at this stage than we were last year. The fact that all our goalscorers on Saturday - Robert Love, Laurie McMaster and Matt Bennett - were all new signings gives me good heart - and a lot of credit has to go to Arnie (Stuart Davidson) and Drew Walsh, who were in charge during my absence, for signing McMaster and Bennett.
"When Jamie Marks and Kevin Struthers are back, it will take a bit of the pressure of Love who has had to play alongside me in the last two games, so hasn't had a great deal of assistance from me!"
"We are working as best we can with what we have got, and we hope to get up to full speed, but I will not amend my target of the top six."
Asked about scoring against Scottish Cup champions Beith last week, Bryan said: "It was an interesting game - to be fair we were struggling for bodies to play and I got my horrible head on and was a nuisance - winning headers and being a battering ram. Scoring the goal was pleasing but I don't see myself playing up there on a regular basis as there are younger and more able players in the position. I see myself more fitting into some kind of defensive role in the team."
Asked whether there will be any new signings before Saturday's game, the Thistle boss said that they were enquiring about a couple of players, but it was hard to say whether anything will come to fruition before the big kick-off.
