Largs Thistle have a very special auction prize at this Saturday’s sportsmen’s dinner celebration at Nardini’s - Scottish Cup winner Kenny Barnstaple’s signed goalkeeper’s jersey.
The big event features top class after dinner speakers including former Rangers and Manchester United star Jimmy Nicholl, and former Morton midfielder John Gahagan. The dinner will be chaired by former ‘News’ editor Drew Cochrane. It kicks off at 7.30pm and tickets are available from the club committee.
And Thistle’s legendary keeper Kenny Barnstaple will be one of the special guests at the dinner.
Harking back to the golden days of 1994, Kenny said: “We had a lot of great players. If you think of Archie Halley, Pat McCurdy, and Stephen Quigg upfront - there probably wasn’t a better frontline at that time.
“The whole cup final day was wonderful from the match itself to the celebrations. The goal we scored was brilliant football. The finish from Pat McCurdy was different class. We defended really well and Glenafton didn’t really trouble us- we really should have won 2 or 3-0 with some of the missed chances. It is hard to believe that it now 23 seasons ago!”
“It was a fabulous achievement and such a terrific day which we will remember for all our lives.”
