Largs Thistle 0 Petershill 1

Thistle were unable to convert their recent impressive league form at Barrfields as they lost to a solitary goal to First Division Petershill.

Largs needed game time as they await their last fixture at home to Talbot and will need to be more clinical after missing some good openings in both halves.

However Petershill had the edge with Largs having keeper Ross Lundy to thank for some impressive stops, and Laurie McMaster made a critical defensive tackle to deny the city side an almost certain goal.

James Marks came closest for Largs in the first half, with Ciaran Friel, a Thistle player earlier in the season, featuring for 'Peasy' as wing back.

The visitors took the lead early in the second half with McGladrigan and Gold combining for a good diagonal effort into the bottom left corner.

Largs had a good chance to equalise with Marks helping to set up Matt Bennett as he was clean through but shot straight at the keeper with the goal gaping.

There was still time for Petershill to hit a cute angled chip beyond Lundy but the shot came off the bar, and Thistle had the ball in the back of the net but it was ruled out by the referee.

Unfortunately the goals dried up for Largs Thistle after a 5-2 win over that local amateurs on Thursday, but are still hanging on to their Premier status after Arthurlie came back from behind to deny Kilwinning a win which could have sealed Thistle's relegation.

The Barrhead team ended up winning 3-1; Ben Lewis scoring for Buffs. The defeat means Kilwinning cannot catch Kilbirnie who are now safe.

Largs and Kilwinning are neck and neck on 18 points but Buffs have a better goal difference and currently sit in the relegation play off spot. Buffs have Pollok at home and Auchinleck away in their final games, while Largs host Talbot.

Bottom team Troon are two points below with league games at Auchinleck and Glenafton still to play.
